Multiple Architecture Assessments
Anonymized case study based on prior employment experience.
The Challenge
Multiple enterprise clients across fintech, banking, insurance, retail, and adjacent sectors were preparing digital transformation or modernization programmes. The business intent was clear, but the technical path was not.
They lacked a defined target architecture, a realistic roadmap, and a delivery model that could survive contact with the existing legacy estate. Before committing budget, leadership needed to know whether the proposed direction was technically feasible, what kind of team would be required, and how much effort was realistically involved.
Founder Role
The work took place during solution design and pre-delivery assessment phases. Existing landscapes were analysed to understand system boundaries, integration constraints, legacy dependencies, data flows, non-functional requirements, and the organisational realities that would shape delivery.
From there, high-level business goals were translated into target architectures and pragmatic implementation roadmaps. The architecture work covered platform direction, integration patterns, migration sequencing, delivery risks, and the standards needed to keep the future solution aligned with the broader enterprise architecture.
The role also included shaping the delivery organisation: defining the team structure, roles, seniority mix, and sourcing plan required to execute the roadmap. This connected the architecture to the practical question every transformation eventually faces: who will build it, in what order, and with what level of seniority?
The Outcome
Clients received validated technical strategies, target architectures, and realistic resource plans before committing to full delivery. The assessments reduced uncertainty and gave stakeholders a defensible basis for budget approval.
The consistent outcome was movement from broad strategic intent to executable transformation planning. Leadership could see the architecture, the roadmap, the delivery shape, and the risks clearly enough to decide whether to proceed, adjust scope, or sequence investment differently.
